Curriculum Categories

14 specialized categories designed to take you from core rendering paradigms to distributed enterprise micro-frontends.

Module 01View

Next.js Rendering Foundations

Rendering strategy is the primary architectural lever in Next.js applications, dictating TTFB, Core Web Vitals, server infrastructure cost, and user interactivity. This module covers the core trade-offs between Client-Side Rendering (CSR), traditional Server-Side Rendering (SSR), Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR), and Next.js 16 Partial Prerendering (PPR) with Cache Components.Prepare for senior-level interviews by mastering HTTP chunked transfer encoding, selective hydration boundaries, and when to combine static shells with dynamic streaming slots.

Module 02View

App Router File Conventions

The App Router utilizes a hierarchical, folder-based routing engine built directly on React Server Component specifications.Learn how layout.tsx preserves client state across route changes while template.tsx remounts, how error boundaries isolate widget crashes without breaking root navigation, and how default.tsx resolves parallel slots.Master the exact file conventions required to organize complex multi-surface enterprise applications.

Module 03View

Server Components & Boundaries

React Server Components fundamentally separate build-time or per-request server compute from the client-side JavaScript bundle shipped over the wire.Demystify what "use client" actually signifies: a boundary declaring where client hydration begins, not a directive to skip server prerendering.Explore the React Flight protocol wire format, inversion-of-control slot composition, and state management architectures using URL parameters and client stores.

Module 04View

Data Fetching & Request Lifecycle

Modern Next.js eliminates internal REST boilerplate by enabling direct database and ORM queries inside asynchronous Server Components.Master the critical breaking change in Next.js 15 and 16: asynchronous request APIs where params, searchParams, cookies(), and headers() return Promises.Eliminate sequential request waterfalls using parallel Promise resolution, streaming Suspense boundaries, and per-request memoization via React.cache().

Module 05View

Next.js Caching Architecture

Caching in Next.js operates across four distinct tiers: Request Memoization, Data Cache, Full Route Cache, and the in-memory client Router Cache.Understand the architectural shift from Next.js 14 aggressive fetch caching to modern explicit opt-in caching via Next.js 16 Cache Components and the "use cache" directive.Learn how to design surgical cache invalidation pipelines using revalidateTag and revalidatePath without triggering cache stampedes.

Module 06View

Server Actions & Form Mutations

Server Actions expose transparent RPC endpoints powered by the "use server" directive, enabling full-stack mutations without manual API controllers.Learn how to handle GET search/filter navigation forms using next/form alongside POST mutation forms using React 19 useActionState and useFormStatus.Deliver instantaneous user feedback using useOptimistic, enforce progressive enhancement for JavaScript-disabled environments, and manage post-mutation cache revalidation.

Module 07View

Security & Authentication Architecture

Next.js full-stack capabilities introduce a distinct attack surface: Server Actions are publicly callable HTTP POST endpoints that require strict server-side authorization.Learn why middleware authentication alone is an anti-pattern that must be backed by data access layer route gating.Enforce compile-time secret isolation with server-only, prevent credential leakage with React taint APIs, and implement cryptographic CSP nonces in production.

Module 08View

Advanced Routing & Interception

Build sophisticated user experiences using App Router advanced routing primitives: parallel route slots (@slot) and route interception ((.)photo).Construct Instagram and Pinterest style feed-to-modal workflows that provide instant modal overlays on client click while maintaining full-page direct URL shareability.Implement streaming Route Handlers with Server-Sent Events (SSE) and network-level request rewriting from Edge Middleware to Next.js 16 proxy.ts.

Module 09View

Asset Optimization & Performance

Achieving 95+ Core Web Vitals scores in enterprise applications requires deep knowledge of Next.js asset compilers.Master next/image layout shift prevention, modern AVIF/WebP image generation, and responsive sizes attributes.Eliminate FOUT/FOIT with zero-CLS font metric overrides via next/font, optimize third-party tracking scripts with next/script, and reduce compilation times with optimizePackageImports.

Module 10View

Dynamic Metadata & SEO

Search engine discoverability and social share previews are first-class primitives in Next.js.Learn how to implement async generateMetadata resolving parent tags without duplicate database requests.Programmatically generate dynamic PNG social cards at the edge using @vercel/og and JSX, automate dynamic sitemap.ts generation, and safely inject Schema.org JSON-LD structured data.

Module 11View

Production Operations & DevOps

Deploying enterprise Next.js applications requires deep understanding of runtime targets, containerization, and observability.Learn how output: "standalone" leverages file tracing to produce minimal Docker containers (<120MB) ready for Kubernetes and Cloud Run.Evaluate architectural tradeoffs between Node.js and Edge runtimes, instrument distributed OpenTelemetry spans via instrumentation.ts, and debug production memory leaks.

Module 12View

Pages Router & Migration Strategy

A majority of enterprise companies have existing production codebases built on the Pages Router that require incremental migration.Master legacy data fetching APIs (getServerSideProps, getStaticProps, getStaticPaths) and understand their exact equivalents in App Router.Formulate zero-downtime dual-router coexistence strategies, migrate navigation hooks safely, and refactor monolithic _app.js and _document.js files into modern layouts.

Module 13View

Enterprise Architecture & System Design

Staff and Principal frontend interviews evaluate your ability to design resilient, distributed web systems serving millions of users.Architect multi-tenant SaaS platforms with custom subdomains using Next.js proxy rewrites, combine micro-frontends under a unified domain using Next.js Multi-Zones, and design flash-sale e-commerce systems.Structure high-velocity monorepos using Turborepo and position Next.js as a high-performance Backend-For-Frontend (BFF) gateway.

Module 14View

Debugging & Production Anti-Patterns

Senior interview rounds frequently test candidates on real-world troubleshooting scenarios and subtle framework traps.Diagnose and fix React hydration mismatches caused by browser extensions, date formatting, and invalid HTML tag nesting.Debug why redirect() throws when wrapped in generic try/catch blocks, prevent cache poisoning leaks in shared server environments, and resolve infinite redirect loops in edge routing matchers.
